Our Story : A New Vision for Specialist Care
Facelab was born from a visionary idea: to dismantle the geographical barriers of elite specialist care. Our founders, Dr. Wathsala and Dr. Manjula, envisioned a new kind of practice—a transformative digital headquarters where their unique expertise in digital treatment design and 3D printing could be accessed by anyone, anywhere.
Our journey began as Clinicians, pioneering these advanced digital methods to provide holistic, integrated care, where the meticulous digital plan defines the success of every outcome. As our mastery of these workflows grew, we naturally evolved into Educators, training numerous dentists and specialists and becoming PGIM Certified Trainers and Examiners.
This deep, practical experience in manufacturing and implementation led to our final evolution as Innovators and Entrepreneurs. We didn't just teach the technology; we built the companies that provide it. We founded Clear Plus, a premier clear aligner brand now established in Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Malaysia, offering everything from thermoformed to direct 3D-printed solutions. We also founded Protomed CMF, a state-of-the-art medical manufacturing company in Sri Lanka and Singapore, producing patient-specific implants in Titanium and PEEK.
Facelab is the culmination of this journey. It is the nexus of our three roles, offering a unique, 360-degree perspective that comes only from those who not only use the technology but actively build the future of it.

Facelab is led by its founding consultants, Dr. Manjula Herath and Dr. Wathsala Samaraweera, who unite decades of specialist experience with international training.
Consultant Orthodontist & Leading Expert in Digital Aligner Workflows
Dr. Wathsala Samaraweera is a board-certified Consultant Orthodontist and PGIM Colombo Certified Trainer & Examiner. She practices a digital-first philosophy, providing the full spectrum of orthodontic care from early interceptive treatments and growth modification in children to comprehensive solutions for adolescents and adults. Her expertise spans fixed appliances (metal and ceramic braces), advanced clear aligner therapy, and surgical orthodontics for corrective jaw surgery. As a pioneering entrepreneur, she co-founded Clear Plus, a premier clear aligner brand across Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Malaysia, offering advanced Graphy™️ and Senertek™️ Direct 3D-Printed Aligners, and Protomed CMF. Her career represents a unique fusion of elite clinical practice, academic training, and building the technology companies themselves.

Dr. Manjula Herath is a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon and PGIM Colombo Certified Trainer & Examiner. He practices a digital-first philosophy, using Virtual Surgical Planning for every procedure. His expertise spans the complete spectrum of OMF surgery: orthognathic surgery, cleft reconstruction, head and neck cancer surgery, microvascular reconstruction, and complex implant rehabilitation including zygomatic implants. As a pioneering entrepreneur, he co-founded Protomed CMF (Sri Lanka and Singapore), manufacturing patient-specific 3D-printed titanium and PEEK implants with elite VSP services, and Clear Plus, an international clear aligner brand. His work embodies the full cycle of surgical innovation—from patient care to manufacturing the technology itself.
